From Lois Clarke, Captain Thurgoona Golf Club
Thank you to the RLGA for providing a grant to help our ladies improve various aspects of their games. The area covered in the lessons were : one course situations such as uneven, uphill & downhill lies; course management including shot selection, preshot routine, using the tee box effectively & warm up exercises; reading the greens; using a driver effectively.
The 4 lessons were conducted over 4 Friday afternoons for one hour. Thirty ladies were divided into 4 groups and rotated through the activities over the 4 weeks. We employed 2 golf professionals, Penny Graeber and Kirk Nederpelt to conduct the clinics. All the ladies considered the lessons very worthwhile and the comments were as follows:
'All great-4 clinics very rewarding - learnt a new club grip & now hitting the ball consistently. Putting has improved & knowledge gained on balls above & below feet and mind game & pre exercises were brilliant tools.'"
'"Great follow up on previous clinic. .. Most beneficial'"
'"The 4 topics were excellent. The hour flew with info and '"doing.'"'"
A great follow up on previous clinic (2015) . we have seen an increase in the numbers playing in regular weekly competitions. Newer ladies with higher handicaps are much more confident and are playing in the 18 hole competition.
Overall, this was a wonderful opportunity provided by the RLGA to our members and was certainly appreciated by our ladies.
